You can delete your CommonRoom account and the personal data linked to it at any time, from the app or from this page. We ask for a one-time code sent by SMS to your number, so that only you can request it.
After you confirm, your account is closed straight away and fully deleted after 30 days.
Option 1: in the app
- Open CommonRoom and tap Me.
- Tap Privacy, data & help, then Your data.
- Tap Delete my account.
- Enter the code we send to your phone to confirm.
Option 2: on this page
Step 1 of 2. Enter the phone number you use to sign in to CommonRoom. If an account uses that number, we'll send it a 6-digit code.
What is deleted, and what is kept
- Deleted: your profile (name, photo, username, bio), your phone number and email, your Common ID page, your settings, devices and notification tokens, and your sign-in sessions.
- Kept, without your name: messages and files you shared in groups stay part of those groups' records and show as from a "Former member", so conversations still make sense to the people in them.
- Kept by your groups: money records your group's treasurer keeps (for example contributions you made) remain in that group's books, because the group needs them to balance; they are no longer linked to an account.
- Kept for a limited time: security and delivery logs for up to 90 days, backups until they are overwritten, and anything we must keep by law.
Only want some of your data removed, such as particular messages or photos? You can delete your own messages and files in the app, or write to support@commonroom.space from any address, telling us your phone number, and we'll help.
See our Privacy Policy for more about how we handle your data.
